Hi all, long time. Internship's finally over, and my one big takeaway is that corporate mostly teaches you politics, just with better swivel chairs. Truly a masterclass I never signed up for.
About to graduate, and naturally I had plans, New York City, obviously, very original. Everything was done, everything was fixed, only the last tiny detail wasn't: an actual visa slot. Couldn't get one. Bureaucracy 1, my itinerary 0. Getting out of bed now feels like its own multi-step application process.
College bet, master's plan, felt strategic. Turns out betting your safety net on one visa appointment ain't strategy, it's gambling with paperwork.
Beautifully stuck under it
One flight got cancelled, had to chase another, all while watching Messi cry on TV, like the universe decided to sync our sad weeks for free.
I remember him winning it, back when I was celebrating with my friends in the first semester of college, we laughed like the future owed us something. Watching him lose this time felt personal, some kind of group refund on happiness got revoked.
Man, it really feels like Argentina's whole golden run and my entire college life collided and are wrapping up in the same breath. At least we're going out together.
Chasing flight #2, T2 still serving main-character energy
One last time seeing those friends before we all scattered like a group project nobody wanted to finish. One of them thanked me for these four years, and it hit me hard, so much for being a supposed adult about it.
Me, staring down unemployment
I'm delightfully lost and confused right now, reconnecting with people, begging for referrals, asking Barsys for a full-time role, updating my resume, grinding daily DSA like it owes me money, hoping for the best.
Closest I've gotten to abroad so far
Every phone call now opens with "so, what's the plan?" like a recurring subscription I never approved. I've perfected a shrug audible over the phone. Somewhere between googling flight prices and refreshing my inbox, I caught myself measuring my worth in offer letters, which has to be the worst currency conversion rate in existence.
LinkedIn & Wellfound have evolved into their own horror genre. Applied everywhere, heard back from a couple, both very polite rejections that stung anyway. "We'll keep your resume on file" is corporate for "it's not you, it's absolutely you." Maybe this is just what your twenties are, one long waiting room with decent WiFi.
No clue where life takes me next, and for once I've stopped pretending I do. Everyone else online looks like they've got it figured out, the internships, the offers, the "grateful for this opportunity" posts, but I'd bet good money most of them are also just winging it in a blazer. All I can actually do is apply to a few more places, keep my head down like the algorithm's watching, hope for the best, defer my admit, and explore the USA in '27 if it'll have me this time.
Manifesting that I still get to study abroad someday, not because the universe owes me one, but because I'm simply not done trying yet. Life's uncertain, apparently that's the one certainty on offer, and I've decided to stop taking that personally.
See you soon.
